====== Checkout FAQ for Shoppers ====== ===== What is Checkout? ===== Checkout is a web-based application that allows you to reserve equipment. ===== How do I Find an Item to Add to My Shopping Cart? ===== Once logged in you have a link in the left-hand menu called "Check Out Shopping." By putting your mouse over those words a sub-menu will pop up allowing you to click on Browse Items. You now have two options for finding a specific item. You can enter any part of the item's name or description into the search box on the left. For example, here we are searching for all items that contain the word sand (such as sand bags). {{shopper_browse.png}} If that doesn't locate the item for which you are looking you can browse by category. Select a category from the category on the right (**NOTE**: Make sure you have cleared your search terms from the search box, otherwise it will only show items in the selected category which match your search!). For example, here we are browsing for items in the 35mm Digital category. {{checkout_browse2.png}} ===== How do I Add an Item to my Shopping Cart? ===== When browsing items you can add the item to your cart by clicking on the shopping cart icon on the row for that item. ===== How do I Tell if an Item is Available? ===== Availability is shown as a series of colored boxes when viewing an item's listing. Colored boxes indicate an item is available for that day while grayed out boxes indicate it is unavailable. So, let's break down what this means for the Octabank Speedring illustrated below:

{{availability.png}} ===== How do I Make a Reservation? ===== Click the {{create_reservation.png}} button in the upper right hand corner of the window. After that is is juat a matter of selecting the date for which you want the items and hitting //Create Reservation// {{make_reservation2.png}} ===== Why do I get Errors when I try to Create a Reservation? ===== If you receive errors when trying to create a reservation it means some necessary condition has not been met, such as the item not being available for the specified date, the start date being out of range, too many red dots, etc. Most of the errors can be fixed by changing the start date of your reservation or removing the offending item(s) from your cart. If you still can't make the reservation (i.e. you are blocked by reddots) you can contact checkout to obtain an override code. {{reservation_errors.png}} ===== How do I View my Current Reservations and Loans ===== To view a summary of your current reservations and loans click on the //Check Out Shopping// link which is located in the left-hand menu. You will be shown a listing of your current reservations and loans. By clicking on the {{view.png}} icon you can view details of the reservation or loan. {{summary.png}} ===== How do I Delete a Reservation? ===== First, go to the reservation and loan summary page.
